5 Superfood Cocktail Recipes

You can indulge with a bit less guilt and experience a fun new way to incorporate some of these superfoods into your life. Just don’t consider these substitutes for smoothies, and keep it to one drink a day for women, two a day for men.

Here are five superfood cocktails we especially like..

Chia Fresca Cocktail

Things you need..
  • 1 1/2 ounces Vida Mezcal
  • 1 ounce Aperol
  • 1 ounce fresh pineapple juice
  • 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 ounce simple syrup
  • 2-3 dashes saline solution
  • 1 bar spoon hydrated chia seeds, see below
Step-by step..
  • Combine all ingredients except chia seeds into a shaker tin and add ice. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds.
  • Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube and garnish with a barspoon of chia on top of the ice cube.
For the chia seeds

Hydrate in cold water in advance by combining 1 part chia and 4 parts water, then letting rest for about 10 minutes to soften.

Blueberry Mojito


Things you need..
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries, plus extra for garnish
  • 4 oz white rum
  • 10 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • 6 oz club soda
  • Ice
Step-by step..
  • In a food processor or blender, puree blueberries until smooth. Set aside.
  • Add mint leaves and sugar to a cocktail shaker. Use a muddler (or the end of a wooden spoon) to muddle the mint and sugar.
  • Add the lime juice, rum and pureed blueberries: shake vigorously.
  • Pour ice and club soda into two tall glasses and then pour in rum mixture. Gently stir.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge, extra blueberries and a sprig of mint. Serve immediately.

Pomegranate Martini


Things you need..
  • 1 1/2 cups pomegranate juice
  • 2 ounces lemon vodka or white tequila
  • 1 ounce Cointreau liquor
  • Cup of ice
  • Splash of sparkling water (optional)
  • Squeeze of lemon (optional)
Step-by step..
  • Shake ingredients in a shaker.
  • Put in chilled martini glasses.
  • Put pomegranate fruit into glass as garnish.

Green Mar-tea-ni


Things you need..
  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 1 ounce chilled green tea
  • Cucumber, sliced, for garnish (optional)
Step-by step..
  • Combine vodka and tea in a martini shaker with ice and shake until chilled.
  • Pour into a martini glass and garnish with a slice of cucumber.

Watermelon Basil Mojito


Things you need..
  • 2 oz light or silver rum
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • 3 basil leaves, one for garnish
  • 0.25 cup fresh chopped watermelon
  • Splash of club soda
Garnish: watermelon slice + basil leaf garnish

Step-by step..
  • In a glass, muddle fresh watermelon and basil with lime juice and simple syrup.
  • Add rum.
  • Top with crushed ice and a splash of club soda.
  • Garnish and serve.
